Lake Iseo, nestled between the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia, is surrounded by mountains that offer some of the most spectacular walking trails in Lombardy. From Baia delle Rose to Costa Volpino, all these routes are easily accessible for an unforgettable day’s walk.

Difficulty: easy-medium
Duration: 5–6 hours (Pilzone–Pisogne section)

The Via Valeriana is an ancient Roman track that runs along the eastern shore of Lake Iseo, from Pilzone to Pisogne. Considered one of the most charming routes in the area, it winds through centuries-old olive groves and chestnut woods, offering spectacular views of the lake and Monte Isola.

The route can also be covered in sections thanks to the railway stations along the way.

From Costa Volpino: A 20-minute drive to Pilzone or by train from Pisogne.

2. Monte Guglielmo (1,957 m) – The Balcony of the Alps

Difficulty: moderately challenging
Duration: 5–6 hours there and back from Zone
Elevation gain: about 900 m

The summit of Monte Guglielmo, with its monument to the Redeemer, offers a 360-degree view of the Alps, the Po Valley and, of course, Lake Iseo.

The trail starts in Zone and winds its way through woods, mountain pastures and alpine meadows. The summit, at almost 2,000 metres, offers one of the most sweeping views of the entire area.
